The Three Best Materials For Your LCD TV Stands

July 31st, 2009 by Allen Sanders, under LCD TV. No Comments

The variety and design of different LCD TV stands that are being manufactured nowadays can be mind-boggling. You can never seem to get enough of them. From outlet stores to online sites, they seem to be everywhere.

When it comes to style, the individual makes a choice. The reason for this is that we each have unique taste and that what we buy normally something that is according to our needs, wants or something that will fit our lifestyle, the color theme or design of our house.

The design is also left to the individuals decision-making. Again, it depends on whatever they deem appropriate for their type of furniture piece. They have the option to mix-and-match or mix-not-match type. Whatever it is they found most appealing, it is definitely up to them to select the best design.

With price, most certainly buyers have a say on this. Suppliers or distributors do the mark-up and pricing but they cannot dictate it to their customers. Some may bite the bullet but others will unleash their negotiating powers in order to get what they want. The purchasing power of the people and the demand for a certain product are the real ones that dictate the cost of these products.

When it comes to material though, there are only few better choices to make like when you are planning to buy an LCD TV stand, we have enumerated the best 3 materials :

1. Glass TV stand ” Glass is cheaper than wood but you it has to be tempered. You should also consider one that can manage the weight requirement of your TV. TV stands made of glass are sometimes preferable because of its style and its trendy and chic look that it gives. However, safety is a concern if you are going for this type especially if there are kids around.

2. Wooden TV stand ” This type of stand is the all-time classic stand. It is flexible and durable at the same time. However, you have different types of wood to choose from. If you would go for the natural or solid wood, it would cost you more but it is sturdy and long-lasting. You can also try the laminated or veneer type which is cheaper but the lifetime span is shorter.

3. Metal TV stand ” This type of TV stand is also sturdy and flexible. However, they are the most expensive among the three. This stand will definitely give your LCD TV a grand look.

When you have more time and more money to spend, the type of material is not an issue. However, when you are saving for something and you want to get the best LCD TV stand then go over the list and check out whatever will suit your need, style and pocket!

Thumper Jones

July 31st, 2009 by James G. Pynn, under Music. No Comments

If you know — good. If you don’t — you should. George Jones was one of the hardest drinking, fastest living son of a guns in all of country music history. Admittedly living a life modeled after his hero, Hank Williams, George Jones blazed a trail of infamy and heartache across the wide-open plains of country music history. Known for his distinctive voice and loose phrasing style, the exploits of George Jones have passed from mere stories into legend.

According to Country Music Television, Jones is the “the greatest living country singer” today. In true George Jones style, I’m sure hed say something to the effect, “it’s the living part that’s tricky.” His clever turn of phrases and unusual vocal style can best be sampled on such legendary hits as “White Lightin’” and “If the Drinkin’ Don’t Kill Me.” Then again, all of his songs carry that signature sound.

Jones was famously (or infamously) married to Tammy Wynette. This marriage made in madness was the stuff of legend, often requiring the services of the local sheriff to help them mediate. Of course that’s a fancy word for “cool off.” Between his drinking problem and her drug addiction, it was not the high point of marital bliss for either one of them, When it all came crashing down in 1975, no one was surprised.

Despite being in to his seventies now, George Jones has not stopped recording or touring. Indeed, he is on tour this summer and is coming to a local gin joint near you. Though there might no be as much pep in his step, his voice is as rich and full as ever. No one can turn a song like The Possum. For those of you not in the know, that’s his nickname.

Booking your George Jones tickets is as easy as pie. You just have to follow the links to the best little booking service around. Don’t wait until the last minute and fall prey to the scalpers. Get a great ticket at a fair price and sleep well at night. But do it quick, because the Possum is not on tour for long.

Ring Tones – Yeh Dil Maange More

July 30th, 2009 by Sam Roberts, under Music. No Comments

The words in the Pepsi advertisement jingle compiled for the Indian audience, literally translating to “the heart wants more” and most everyone’s craze for new and varied ring tones are a perfect match. With the number of cell phone connections sky rocketing in India and the rest of the world, this is one craze that has very little chance of ebbing away. Not that I am one to complain, especially if the tune is one of Kishore Kumar’s evergreen melodies! But I’d draw the line at some of the more bizarre tunes or so called tunes, like a baby crying or the sound of a ‘fart’ that some individuals insist on assaulting our eardrums with.

Some basic points about the ring tone:

1. It is the name given to the sound made by any kind of telephone, not just mobile phones, to announce an incoming call or text message. Most of these sounds, especially those that do not have a tune or are not customised, are not tones at all and should actually be called ring sounds.

2. The first telephones had a bell which made a ‘ring’ing sound when struck by a hammer, operating electromagnetically, to announce a call. While this system is still common, most cell phones and modern land line phones have advanced from the ring to producing different kinds of sounds.

3. While receivers nowadays allow adjustments to the volume, there are many variations on offer regarding the type of ring tone – to allow differentiation between two or more instruments lying side by side. Specific customer requirements are also covered, such as for the hearing impaired.

4. Towards the late 1980s mechanical ring tones were slowly getting replaced by electronic ones progressing from single tones to those playing two, three or more tones and then on to melodies.

5. 1996 saw the advent of the customised ring tones on mobile phones, with some Japanese manufacturers offering a number of options, both customised and pre-recorded.

6. Downloadable ring tones were available from 1998 and this service has now become an enormously successful industry right across the globe.

7. Real tones, which are usually taken from popular songs, began to be distributed from late in 2002.

All the new music being generated by bands, composers, films, etc. number in the hundreds of thousands across the world. Marketing these as ring tones before or at the time of launch allows the tune to become popular and improve the prospects of it becoming a ‘hit’. Ring tones are now available online, can be sent via sms or copied from a DVD or CD. A number of sites specialise in bringing the latest offerings to the consumer, sometimes the second it’s out of the recording studio. There is a huge amount of financial turnover in this business, running into billions of dollars, because everyone would love to have only the latest and the best. Since I am no different from most others and want options for everything, my heart to get to have more . ring tones!

Review These Movies

July 29th, 2009 by Allison Morin, under Music. No Comments

For a long time we have used the video store as one of our main ways to access movies. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. You can get virtually any movie you want with a good movie download site. Here are some examples.

The Rains Came: Louis Bromfield novel lessened to Hollywood dribble, with wedded socialite Loy setting out to seduce committed Indian surgeon Power. Momentous earthquake and deluge scenes are displayed. The visual effects won an Academy Award. Cast includes Myrna Loy, Tyrone Power, George Brent, Brenda Joyce, Nigel Bruce, Maria Ouspenskaya, Joseph Schildkraut, and Mary Nash. (104 minutes, 1939)

Cruel Intentions: Kathryn and Sebastian, brother and sister through marriage, begin to play a very cruel game. It starts when Kathryn’s boyfriend Court dumps her. To get back she asks Sebastian to sleep with Cecile, Courts new girl, who is still a virgin. After that he sets his sight on a tougher target, Annette, who has said in Seventeen Magazine that will stay a virgin until married. Kathryn thinks it is impossible so a bet is made. If Sebastian wins, Kathryn will have to sleep with him.

Outbreak: deadly virus has hit Cedar Creek, California. Highly transferable, in a short time the virus is spreading fast. The other problem, once infected you have less than 24 hours to live. The virus must be contained, so people are sequestered if they are near the outbreak areas.

Act of Violence: Act of Violence is a tense drama where we follow a man who was permanently injured during the war. He is now after the senior officer who abandoned his men in a prisoner of war camp. The stars are Van Heflin, Robert Ryan, Janet Leigh, Mary Astor, and Phyllis Thaxter. (1948 drama directed by Fred Zinnemann)

Sphere: Floundered sci-fi fable from Michael Crichton novel in reference to a group of scientists from variant controls who are carried to a terrific-secret underwater site where the U.S. Navy has discovered a wreck. What does it imply? Where did it materialize from and while? Fascinating set-up leads nowhere, with progressively brainless conduct from the principals and ludicrous chapter headings that lend assumed supply to each new pattern. Cast includes Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Coyote, Liev Schreiber, and Queen Latifah. (133 minutes, 1998)

The Lawnmower Man: Jobe is retarded. He lives the simple life of mowing lawns. Dr. Lawrence Angelo wants to see if he can develop intelligence artificially. With some drugs, and a connection to virtual learning through a super computer, Jobe starts learning at an incredible rate. The question is, what are the consequences?

Strange Impersonation: Marshall gives a first rate acting job in this grade-B film noir in reference to an analysis scientist whose face is dreadfully maimed in a so-called mishap. Plastic surgery allows her to decipher the puzzle behind that episode and seek reprisal. It may be the definitive work of Garbo. Cast includes Brenda Marshall, William Gargan, Hillary Brooke, George Chandler, Ruth Ford, H. B. Warner, and Lyle Talbot. (68 minutes, 1946)

Law of the Lawless: War horse cast is chief interest here, with Robertson an ex-gunman turned magistrate. Cast includes Dale Robertson, Yvonne De Carlo, William Bendix, Bruce Cabot, Richard Arlen, and Kent Taylor. (88 minutes, 1964)

Gothica: Criminal psychologist Dr. Miranda Grey wakes up to find herself in the institution where she works, the state prison for the criminally insane. She has been accused of killing her husband. She feels that a ghost is affecting her. She escapes the asylum to prove her innocence. Will she be able to?

Download Magnificent Movies With Only One Click

July 29th, 2009 by Debra F Nelson, under Music. No Comments

Never before has it been so wonderful to be a movie fan. Back in the day the only way that you could even view a movie was to visit the movie theater. Later on, videos came out and you could get a videotape at the store but the film that you wanted may have been out-of-stock and you still had to wait. You also needed to make sure that you avoided any late fees by making sure that you got the film back to the store on time. Now you can get the movies by mail, but it is still a waiting game.

But these days you can download full-length, high-quality movies right away to your computer. Find the movie, push the button, wait for the download and there you have it, the exact show that you sought.

There are many separate ways to download films. You will see that you can essentially do it for free. However, most of the free of charge sites cause more difficulties than they are worth. The movies are illegally copied copies and they are illicit. Download movies for free at your own risk.

The free sites with bootleg movies are breaking copyright laws. This not just puts them at risk, but as a purchaser you may also be at danger. There have been customers who have been convicted of copyright violations for downloading bootleg music. Films are the same and you could be putting yourself in difficulty. And the fact is that bootleggers injure all, from the artists, to the production companies, to everybody else in the world because it affects the financial system.

Generally the sites that need a payment also have particular software that can assess the sum of royalties that are due to the copyright owner. These sites are above-board and they are also the sites that offer you the most protection when you download. They usually have a high-quality assortment and these are the sites that will continue to offer enhanced service in the future.

Downloading anything from your computer could put your processor at risk for viruses and adware. Be cautious and make sure that you only download from honest sites. Viruses can be detrimental and end up costing you a ton of cash and you could also lose all of your significant data. Adware and malware should also be a apprehension.

Check out a selection of sites before you begin to download movies. Check to bear out that they have all of the things that you want. If you would prefer to burn the movie to a Compact disk so you can watch if on your TV, make sure that you can do that. Check out their choice and check for download times for the movie.

As you might have guessed, downloading a film takes quite a bit more time than downloading a song. It may be advantageous to set up a motion picture to download when you are away from your computer like before you go to work in the morning or before you go to bed at nighttime.

9/9/9: The Holidays Come Early For Beatles Fanatics

July 29th, 2009 by Jamie T. Winston, under Music. No Comments

On 9/9/9 new remastered mixes for each of the 13 original UK studio albums that The Beatles recorded in the 1960s will be coming out.

In the ’80s when The Beatles first released their albums in the CD format, the technology was still new. The mastering job done on those CDs is considered sub par and that’s why Beatles fans have long been clamoring for remastered CDs.

It’s not just the new CD remasters that are exciting Beatles fans, it’s also the fact that the original mono mixes of their albums will be released in a mono box set on 9/9/9 too!

This is the first time that the original mono mixes of The Beatles albums are going to be available on CD.

Mono was being phased out way back in the 1960s, so why should we listen to mono mixes in 2009? This is an understandable view but if you think of these mixes as being the originally intended mixes, it’s interesting to hear them.

Mono was the standard at the time and because of that The Beatles spent a lot more time on the mono mixes than they did on the stereo mixes. In fact the stereo mixes were thrown together rather hastily in comparison.

Because of this many feel that the original mono mix of an album such as Sgt. Pepper is the “real” version of the album.

The new Beatles Rock Band game also comes out on 9/9/9. I’m not a huge video game guy but I do love the Rock Band games, they are fun. And the Beatles game should really take it to the next level.

The graphics and game play look really awesome from the previews I’ve seen. Even if you’re not a big video game person, I’d give the Beatles Rock Band a try if you’re a fan of the band. It promises to be great fun.

Home Movie Theater Lighting

July 29th, 2009 by Marion Jones, under Movies. No Comments

Light fixtures are things that not that many of us think about all that often. However, the lighting in a room can make us feel a experience mood or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscape feature.

Are you planning to remodel a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, because my friend, Owen Jones, told me. I think that you should consider light fixtures as one element to change. For instance, you could start by ignoring the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

I would suggest installing four or even six small wall-lights. These are not expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any budget. The only drawback with wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires would really have to be cut into the wall so as not to appear unsightly.

But, you could get around this by buying standard lamps. These are also available in thousands of designs, but they come with two disadvantages: trailing wires and a higher cost. They are easily moveable though. Small, table lamps is a similar alternative, but you may need more electrical sockets.

Once you have decided exactly on what style you want, have a dimmer attached to each either in unison or separately, as you like. You should probably keep one reasonably powerful light at the DVD end of the room just in case the equipment needs seeing to, but it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be really stunning. And all from just changing the existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even go the whole hog and have an exit sign over the door or a few mood lamps higher up out of line of sight, so that they are not distracting ” say, an old 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be got ready.

So, whatever style home theater lighting you are considering, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to pick from. From different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many. You can find them on the Internet or in home improvement stores. I have made a link to one of my online favourites below.

Furthermore, when you do implement the changes, you will notice that your home theater has taken on an ambiance all of its own and it will “definitely|guaranteed” enhance your home theater experience. It may be these minor changes, room by room, that make you see your home in a completely different light.
