Say It Isn’t So: Pleasantly un-ambitious Klein falls for the new hairdresser in town Graham only to find out (after having sex with her) that she’s his sister! Cast includes Heather Graham, Chris Klein, Orlando Jones, Sally Field, Richard Jenkins, John Rothman, Brent Briscoe, and Sarah Silverman. (96 minutes, 1988)
Mr. Nice Guy: Jackie Chan, a Television cook, is chased by 2 sets of men who are both after an incriminating videotape that’s fallen into his hands. One of Jackie’s better later films, set in Melbourne and, like most of his best films, an action comedy. Shimmering and arousing fights abound, the best and funniest orchestrated at a construction site. Cast includes Jackie Chan, Richard Norton, Miki Lee, Karen McLymont, Gamelle Fitzpatrick, and Vince Poletto. (113 minutes, 1997)
Illuminata: Life, love, lust, and aspiration in a theatrical troupe in the beginning of the 2Oth century N.Y.C., although the feel is uniquely European. Playwright Turturro is in love with the corporation’s megastar/supervisor, and longs to have her act his latest play. Cast includes Jolm Turturro, Katherine Borowitz, Susan Sarandon, Christopher Walken, Rufus Sewell, Beverly D’Angelo, and Donal McCann. (111 minutes, 1999)
The Lost Continent: The steamer drifts into the seaweed suffocated Sargasso Ocean and finds a lost continent with a secluded ancient culture acquired from Spanish monarchy. Excellent cast handles uneven script straight-faced. Cast includes Eric Porter, Hildegard Knef, Suzanna Leigh, Tony Beckley, Nigel Stock, and Neil McCallu. (89 minutes, 1968)
Nomad: On the desolate steps of 18th-century Kazakhstan, in a battle for freedom, mystic combatant Oraz saves a child descended from Genghis Khan who is destined to join the country as “Mansur”. Historical fable has nasty sabers on horseback fights and excellent production layout (locals being used as add-ons) however trudging storytelling. Cast includes Kuno Becker, Jay Hernandez, Jason Scott Lee, and Mark Dacascos. (110 minutes, 2005)
Alien 3: Ellen Ripley and her surviving friends are flying through space after battling the Aliens. They crash land on a desolate planet that has a prison colony as the inhabitants. Unfortunately, an alien has stowed away on the ship, and is now loose on this new world.
Catch Me If You Can: This movie tells the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr., who was a master con man. By the time he was 21 years old, he had been a doctor, a co-pilot for a major airline, and a lawyer. Check fraud is where he excelled the most, and he had swindled companies out of millions with this skill. F.B.I. agent Carl Hanratty becomes obsessed with finding and capturing Frank.
Hannibal: It has been ten years since Hannibal had escaped. Mason Verger, Hannibal’s sixth victim, a survivor, has obsessive revenge on his mind. His plot includes using agent Starling for bait. He feels Hannibal will not be able to resist.
Only While I Laugh: Fun con-game film finds 3 con artists planning to sell a militant African ambassador fragment metal in annunciation cases. Cast includes Richard Attenborough, David Hemmings, Alexandra Stewart, and Nicholas Pennell. (104 minutes, 1968)
