Inside Look At Talent Agencies ” Emerald City Model And Talent

September 5th, 2009 by John Harb, under Movies. No Comments

Emerald City Model and Talent in Edmonds, Washington stated a talent agent is a person who finds jobs for actors, authors, film directors, models, musicians and producers. Actors and models will be interested in working on stage, films and television as well as in commercials.

Do people ever tell you that you look like an actor? If not do you wish that they would? Do you think you’ve got some talent, or at least a great look? Do you have self-esteem coming out every imaginable orifice? If endless rejection, years of waiting tables, and the chance at absurdly high pay for work that requires absolutely no education sounds good to you, then by golly it’s time you got an agent.

Why do you even need an agent? Because agents are the gatekeepers to the people who hire you for TV, film, and commercials; the casting directors and producers. In return for helping you find work, your agent will receive a percentage of your paychecks

Emerald City Model and Talent states, there are different types of agents and different types of talent such as theatrical (film and television) modeling and commercials. Other jobs are dance, voice-over for TV, film and radio. An agent can represent you for one or more of these categories.

Agents get information about auditions for roles, either directly from casting directors and producers or from an insiders-only fax services called “the breakdowns.” The breakdowns are a daily faxed list of roles being cast, and they are available only to agents and managers.

Casting directors can receive hundreds or thousands of resumes and head shots for a role offered. The talent agent’s job is to weed out those who do not meet the requirements. There are so many actors wanting each role or job.

Having an 8 x 10 photos and resume is very important to your career as a model and actor. Another good idea is to make a demo reel of your work but if you are new do not worry about this. The photo and resume have certain professional guidelines.

It is important to have an excellent photo when you are called into an audition so the casting directors and others know what you look like prior to the audition. However, if you are not a model do not take the glamour shots. If you are pretty let them know it.
