First off, out of respect for total disclosure, I must tell you that I now own this monitor: I didn’t before the review, but I do now! So, doing this review will be really easy for me.

Features / Performance

The HDTV designed computer has the lot, I mean there is nothing missing. Introduction The new Plasma High Definition Television called the Samsung PN42B450, which uses 720p technology has created quite a stir among the online retailers; I will be reviewing this TV in terms of its features and benefits. So, here I am to let you know about the detailed aspect of this television.

The Good What impresses me most about Samsung is that they utilize the maximum potential of the technology of 720p resolution instead of adding to the expenses of the users by using 1080p resolution unnecessarily. Yes, the 42 inch Samsung PN42B450 is another 720p excellent Plasma TV. In fact, in terms of picture quality, this one is the best 42 inch plasma TV I have come across so far. According to me, 1080p resolution is of no use if the TV size is less than 50 inches.

The picture quality of this TV is simply superb; colors are vibrant, rich and true. Contrast and resolution response is exceptional indeed, and avid gamers and fast action movie fans wont have any problems with ghosting or motion blurring. As is the case with virtually all plasma televisions, the TV displays black, white and gray shades of color perfectly.

Connection type and availability is good, and you should easily be able to find a port on the TV to satisfy your peripheral device needs. In fact, the TV even comes with a PC and USB port for direct viewing of images and videos, from your computer. Sound quality on this TV is excellent; and the remote control is well designed and durable. Moreover, the remote quickly recognizes and easily auto configures for virtually any external peripheral.

The bad I havent found any such thing in the TV that I can term as its limitation. Though, plenty of heat is generated, but it is a common fact among the Plasma TVs. As the television is quite heavy and good care is needed, it is better to go with wall mounting. As this one is Plasma, lot of electricity will be consumed.

The ugly This is a great plasma TV; the only ugly thing about this TV is how bad it makes me feel ” because, I dont have one.

For any 720p resolution television, Samsung PN42B450 is huge. Other manufacturers who produce TV of this size opts for 1080p technology doesnt make much of a difference; as mentioned earlier in our various reviews, if the size of the screen is 50 or more, then only such technology can make a difference. It seems that Samsung knows this better than any other manufacturer; because they continue to make 720p technology look as good as, or better than, many 1080p resolution enabled HDTVs. In short, this thing is wicked awesome and fantastic in terms of visual clarity and picture image.

With the PN42B450, the colors are rich, accurate and well defined; and since it is plasma the blacks, whites and grays are simply perfect. Tonal balance is awesome, as is image warmth and depth. Plasma shines image tracing performance; and the result is no ghosting or fast action image blur at all.

The experience of watching stylish action flicks or playing game is immaculate in the TV. Like always, the performance of the QAM HDTV tuner technology is perfect in this TV too; it is also able to display main network HDTV broadcasts smoothly. PN42B450 establishes superb connectivity with the HDMI ports, which are optical audio output, audio in/out ports and PC video

Moreover, A/V input ports (mounted on sides) are also featured in the television. The remote control is like any other Samsung remote control that is easy to handle and durable. Similarly, the television create outstanding surround sound impact for music and cinema.

I don’t know when it will end. Samsung continues to surprise me with the level of features, performance, quality and value that they are able to produce in a television at such an attractive price. If you want HDTV that will keep you smiling, impress your friends and won’t send you to the poor house; then the Samsung PN42B450 is the TV for you.
