Make Money As A Freelance Writer

August 15th, 2009 by Marie Tanner, under Copy and Writing. No Comments

There are a lot of job opportunities for freelance writers.

Many freelance writers make a decent living ghostwriting. Website owners always require fresh original and pertinent content on their websites to be a magnet for new and repeat visitors. As a freelance ghostwriter you simply create website content for clients and allow them to present your masterpiece as their own for a fee.

Website content writing often includes sales letters, articles, blog etries, ebooks, and newsletters. This kind of writing must be alluring and geared specifically to the website’s target audience.

Freelance writers have got to be professional. Appropriate grammar, punctuaction, and spelling is vital to being successful. An additional important point to understand is that writing for the Internet differs from writing term papers or for magazines. Online readers are known to take very short attention spans. Therefore, condensed clear sentences that get straight to the aim are usually preferred.

Yet another difference is most writing assignments for online content Involve the use of particular “keywords”. Keywords are words chosen by your client to be used in the writing. Most often clients choose keywords based on Internet search terms they need their website to show up for in search engines. Keyword driven writing means you have to use the word or phrase a Set number of times in the content.

Now and again it can be hard to utilize the words without making it sound obligatory. Knowledgeable Internet writers have come up with ways to make using keywords stream naturally in their writing.

Once you have secured a few Internet writing assignments under your belt, you can better select what kind of web writing matches you best. You can come across work on writing message boards, freelance writing job websites and classified ad sites Such as craigslist. Each time you inquire for a job, be certain to include your contact information and a couple well-selected writing samples.

Learn Languages

July 15th, 2009 by Robertson B. Kunz, under Copy and Writing. No Comments

Learn second language is not only fun but can be a useful tool, as well. If you want to learn a second language, meaning a foreign language, there are some things to be aware of before you begin.

An often overlooked point is the reason you want to learn a new language. Surprisingly, this point can determine whether or not you will be successful in your pursuit of a new language to add to your repertoire.

The main problem here that one can run into is if one begins to learn a language without good reason or background to do so. Learning a new language is a task which takes a great amount of effort and time and simply learning it for a weak reason will not give you enough fuel to get you through your language learning stage.

So, what is a good reason for learning a new language? If your company is sending you on a trip or if your significant other speaks the language, these can be good reasons that will keep you going during your foreign language studies.

Weak reasons would include learning a language simply because your ancestors spoke it. For example, if you live in the United States and have Welsh ancestry, you may be tempted to learn Welsh. But, really, unless you have some other kind of contact with Welsh or some real use for it, you will find that you will lose steam fast when trying to learn this new language.

By this point, you have chosen another language to study and have your good reason behind it to insure your success. I must emphasize in learning another language, that one should get into real world materials as quickly as possible. The reason for this is that another language’s syntax and structure, among other things, can be picked up much more quickly and naturally this way. Textbooks are good for a start, however, out-of-date language and unnatural learning methods make them a bad choice in the long run. Additionally, many textbooks have slow language learning methods and will end up wasting you a lot of time!

Reusing Content Makes Good Business Better

July 8th, 2009 by Robert Nassif, under Copy and Writing. No Comments

Rewriting is a practical way to reuse content and having a computer program will make writers’ lives easier. There are lots of ways to reuse content of articles. For people working in article distribution, reusing content is more practical than having to think of another idea and another way of presenting it. An article is full of ideas where we can pull any thought out of it and expound on it to make a new and innovative piece. This may sound easy but doing things manually is not an easy task. Being able to reprocess an article made and make it into new ones will take much time and effort.

Dealing with the internet is such an overwhelming job. The World Wide Web is such a large place to be in and considering that it is a good source for anything around the world, a very large amount of articles has been made to market these things in the “virtual” world. Being in the article distribution industry, coming out with unique ideas and creative ways of communicating such thoughts will garner more clients and more business. So, authors should think of several ways to reuse content.

Duplicate content filters are the tools that search engines use to sift out identical content. Duplicates, a term used to call materials that are identical, will be considered as spam and will not appear in the results when a user enters what he is looking for. Clients are careful about this because if this happens, they will not receive traffic. Their website will not be visited and the products and services that they offer will be less known. Traffic is basically users visiting the site. The more traffic they are receiving, the greater chance of selling their products and services. So, authors in article distribution should always take into consideration duplicate content filter avoidance when writing articles. If this is taken for granted, then they will not be able to make good business and good relations with their clients.

The program that search engines use in determining identical pieces of writing is called duplicate content filters. These filters sift through their database of articles and sort out pieces that are identical. When this happens, these articles are regarded as spam and will not be available to use. This means that when internet users type in a word or phrase, the search engine will not bring out these articles to be available to them. Duplicate content filter avoidance is what writers should aim for to be able to deliver quality service to clients. Authors are able to give traffic to customer website and that would come in return of good earnings.

To save time and energy from reading, looking for portions that can be similar to the original, checking and rechecking, writers can use computer programs that can do all of these in just minutes. They are reliable and can really be of help to those in article distribution. Ensuring spun articles are effective is the main goal of these programs.

Ebooks And Downloadable Books

June 15th, 2009 by Alexis Kenne, under Copy and Writing. No Comments

At one point in time you had to go to a local library or a bookstore to find a great book. You could look over what they had and find something that interested you. Today we have the web, and you don’t have to leave your home in order to get a wonderful book.

Over time the publishing industry has really developed. Books used to be available in books, then they were offered on cassette tapes, then CDs. Today you can now get these books online and put them on music players like iPods, allowing you to have them with you at all times. There are ebooks offered too, which you can put onto your digital reader or computer to read. These styles of books are very popular – perhaps even as popular as paper books.

Ebooks and Downloadable Books – Why They are Important

Familiar with audiobooks? This is why downloadable books are like. They are recorded aloud so that you can listen to them instead of having to read them. They are excellent to have along with you when you are taking a ride or getting some exercise, and they really bring the book to life.

Ebooks are a bit different. They are books that can be read like regular books, but they are in a format that is digital. You can read them with a reader like Adobe Acrobat or Kindle on your computer. You can change the font or cross reference them easily when reading.

Both of these digital styles of books are quite important. Today people are very active, more so than ever before. Many people don’t have time to read traditional books. With the ebooks and downloadable books, they can keep up their busy lives while still getting the benefits of books. Publishers and writers that want to be successful really need to offer ebooks and downloadable books today.

Easy to Make Money

Because downloadable books and downloadable ebooks are easier to produce, it’s easier to make money with them. Traditional books can be expensive to publish and distribute. By producing and distributing books in digital format, publishers can get books to more people more quickly, and with less of a cost to the publisher.

After all, when you’re creating a digital book, you don’t have to worry about the physical products needed to create it. Instead, it can be produced as quickly as it can be put online, and readers have instant access to it. This creates a bigger profit margin for them, and keeps the readers happy.

Since you are able to product ebooks and the digital audio books with ease, most people can do this themselves if they have a computer of their own. This takes away all the complicated issues that can occur when you are trying to traditionally write and then publish books today.

Downloadable books are the future of the publishing industry. More and more publishers are offering digital formats of their books, and some writers are even working exclusively in digital formats. As the world becomes more digitally-inclined, books will continue to be available for downloading, and before we know it, students will carry ebook reading devices instead of textbooks!

Generating Massive Traffic Through Article Marketing

June 15th, 2009 by Porfirio G Krasternak, under Copy and Writing. No Comments

The submission of articles to the article banks is a well known method of generating traffic. While you may not accomplish much in the near future by learning how to write and submit articles, knowing how can serve you for a long time and is well worth the effort of learning and using to your greatest benefit. Though you may not feel up to writing Moby Dick because you don’t have any writing ability but you are likely wrong. You can provide information about your website and your products because you know exactly what they are. All that is necessary is that you know the rules for effective article writing. Of most importance is the headline or title. This MUST have key words relating to your website and your products. The first thing that eZine publishers or other website owners look at when deciding to publish your article are the key words in the title because they know that the search engines look at those.

* Note: The way people find products or information on the internet is by the use of search engines. These people use key words to find what they want by entering them into the search box and clicking “Search”. One such search may be for “car parts” or “car tires”. What is returned by the search engine is based on whatever key words the searcher used.

Your article title or headline MUST grab the reader’s attention. Simply using a title of “Making Money” probably won’t do. The title must grab the reader by the throat and not let him go. It must make the reader want to keep reading. “Making Money Online”… well, not very good either. How about “Making Money Online in Your Houseshoes” or “Making a Bundle Online Before Breakfast”. Something to capture the reader’s attention if they are interested in making money on the internet.

The second most important few words in your article are in the first line of the first paragraph. Internet surfers have a notoriously short attention span and rarely actually read anything word for word unless it is information that they believe will serve their needs, solve a problem or make life better in general for them. So…the title…and the first line are the bait and the hook that you use to entice a reader to actually read the article. The first line needs to contain the key words, as well, and it also need to be attention getting. The fish were begging for more of this fish bait after my first cast! If you were a fisherman, you would keep reading.

One more thing about your articles is that they need to be short if you intend to submit them to article banks. Very short! No more than 400 words but closer to 300 words would be more appropriate. Sometimes we can get carried away and all of a sudden have an article that is 1000 words or more. This can happen if you are writing about a subject in which you are interested and knowledgeable about. When this happens just break a long article down into a couple of shorter articles.

Short sentences and short paragraphs will keep the reader’s attention better than long wordy sentences or paragraphs. Your article should be a joy to read.

Go easy on the exclamation points, as well. One exclamation point indicates importance or excitement… a half a dozen are just rude.

The resource box at the end of your article is the most important part to you. E-zine publishers or website owners who download and reproduce your article are required to include your resource box. For best results this box must contain your full name, contact information and, above all, a link to your website. This link is what is going to help increase traffic for you.

Warning! Do NOT word-wrap this link! Type it out in full, http://www.whatever.com. All email programs that E-zine editors use to send out their newsletters and E-zines do not support word-wrapped links so you can defeat your own purpose by word-wrapping the link to your website.

Submitting Articles: You can find article banks and article repositories on the Internet by simple doing a search for them using your favorite search engine. When you have located them, you must submit your articles according to the guidelines that each site sets forth.

You will likely be told that you can use software that is available to automatically submit your articles to banks and repositories…and in fact, there is such software. But the problem is that most of the larger banks and repositories do not accept automatic submissions. While the software does in fact save you time when submitting to the smaller sites, it doesnt help you much with the bigger sites.

Submitting articles can be time consuming and boring, but it is work that will provide a lot of targeted traffic to your site. Every person who reads an article you’ve written is also exposed to your URL. If they like the article because it provides good information for them, they will visit your site. Once there, they may buy something you are selling or maybe opt-in for your mailing list… or possibly even do both. There are services available to submit your articles for you. You do have to pay for this service.

Another solution which I use is Unique Article Wizard. UAW submits unique articles to hundreds of article publishers at the click of a mouse. Spend a couple hours writing your article, click Publish and watch the traffic grow to your site.

How to Write Short Stories

June 13th, 2009 by Luke Wilson, under Copy and Writing. No Comments

The structure of the short story is a bit different then that of a regular story. For one you do not have the time or luxury of taking time to develop the protagonist. It must be done quickly. The reader must be drawn into the story almost immediately. Novice writers are often given, this advice.

1) Put a man up a tree 2) Throw stones at him 3) Get him down

Short story writing is not very dissimilar to writing any other type of story. You will first develop your protagonist, present him with a few challenges to get past, and then provide a way for the protagonist to prevail over his challenges.

You will want to make every word matter when you begin to write a story. Don’t rush in too fast by expressing your gift with words, or trying to write overly impressive dialogue and descriptions. This would be a big mistake. Every extra word that is not necessary will only water down the real impact of the story.

The best short stories focus on a short period of time. They are focused on one single important event in the main character’s life. Focus on the time and event very carefully, as it will drastically affect the outcome of your short story.

When the reader gets to the end of the story, they first should be surprised and delighted that the story was so good and so short, and most importantly they should not feel cheated. When a reader offers you their time, the writer should do everything thing his/her power to make sure that it was time well spent.
