Buying a new appliance such as a plasma TV gives an exciting feeling for every individual doing so. Actually, the planning and the budgeting to purchase such already give a different air. Especially purchasing for a plasma TV which is the latest trend today when it comes to home entertainment, would really generate not only excitement and pride.

Actually, this is the mistake of many buyers and that is being only concerned with the appliance such as the plasma TV. They will only realize the lack of effect because of the lack of the appropriate furniture upon reaching home.

Where it will be placed and most importantly, the rack or furniture that should contain it is equally important. A plasma TV furniture would surely complete the look of your new plasma TV, thus you need to also plan and buy a plasma TV furniture when you get the plasma TV that you so wanted.

Getting a suitable plasma TV furniture or TV rack is not as difficult as looking for a good and quality plasma television itself. All you need to have is the exact idea of what you are looking for and the budget that you allot for it. One of the main considerations when selecting for suitable plasma TV furniture is the theme or style of the room where this appliance will be placed.

In many households designed by interior design experts, the appliances like the plasma TV and its corresponding furniture could presents a theme or a particular design. One of the considerations that you need to think about when selecting a plasma TV furniture is the overall theme or look of your living room. Samsung PN42B450

August 24th, 2009 by Mike Manster, under Plasma TV. No Comments

Introduction The new Plasma High Definition Television called the Samsung PN42B450, which uses 720p technology has created quite a stir among the online retailers; I will be reviewing this TV in terms of its features and benefits. So, here I am to let you know about the detailed aspect of this television.

The Good What impresses me most about Samsung is that they utilize the maximum potential of the technology of 720p resolution instead of adding to the expenses of the users by using 1080p resolution unnecessarily. Yes, the 42 inch Samsung PN42B450 is another 720p excellent Plasma TV. In fact, in terms of picture quality, this one is the best 42 inch plasma TV I have come across so far. According to me, 1080p resolution is of no use if the TV size is less than 50 inches.

The picture quality of this TV is simply superb; colors are vibrant, rich and true. Contrast and resolution response is exceptional indeed, and avid gamers and fast action movie fans wont have any problems with ghosting or motion blurring. As is the case with virtually all plasma televisions, the TV displays black, white and gray shades of color perfectly.

Connection type and availability is good, and you should easily be able to find a port on the TV to satisfy your peripheral device needs. In fact, the TV even comes with a PC and USB port for direct viewing of images and videos, from your computer. Sound quality on this TV is excellent; and the remote control is well designed and durable. Moreover, the remote quickly recognizes and easily auto configures for virtually any external peripheral.

The bad I havent found any such thing in the TV that I can term as its limitation. Though, plenty of heat is generated, but it is a common fact among the Plasma TVs. As the television is quite heavy and good care is needed, it is better to go with wall mounting. As this one is Plasma, lot of electricity will be consumed.

The ugly This is a great plasma TV; the only ugly thing about this TV is how bad it makes me feel ” because, I dont have one.

August 24th, 2009 by Mike Manster, under Plasma TV. No Comments

Today, we are taking aim at the Samsung PN42B450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV. It is a 42 Inch plasma HDTV that literally pushes the limits of 720p resolution technology to where no other Plasma TV has gone before. Continue reading to find out if todays drive-by review gives this TV proper respect or sends it to the morgue.

For any 720p resolution television, Samsung PN42B450 is huge. Other manufacturers who produce TV of this size opts for 1080p technology doesnt make much of a difference; as mentioned earlier in our various reviews, if the size of the screen is 50 or more, then only such technology can make a difference. If you have come across any such TV that makes such difference please let us know.

It seems that Samsung knows this better than any other manufacturer; because they continue to make 720p technology look as good as, or better than, many 1080p resolution enabled HDTVs. In short, this thing is wicked awesome and fantastic in terms of visual clarity and picture image.

With the PN42B450, the colors are rich, accurate and well defined; and since it is plasma the blacks, whites and grays are simply perfect. Tonal balance is awesome, as is image warmth and depth. Plasma shines image tracing performance; and the result is no ghosting or fast action image blur at all.

The experience of watching stylish action flicks or playing game is immaculate in the TV. Like always, the performance of the QAM HDTV tuner technology is perfect in this TV too; it is also able to display main network HDTV broadcasts smoothly. PN42B450 establishes superb connectivity with the HDMI ports, which are optical audio output, audio in/out ports and PC video

Moreover, A/V input ports (mounted on sides) are also featured in the television. The remote control is like any other Samsung remote control that is easy to handle and durable. Similarly, the television create outstanding surround sound impact for music and cinema.

I don’t know when it will end. Samsung continues to surprise me with the level of features, performance, quality and value that they are able to produce in a television at such an attractive price. If you want HDTV that will keep you smiling, impress your friends and won’t send you to the poor house; then the Samsung PN42B450 is the TV for you.

Why Plasma TVs Are Superior To LCD TVs

July 19th, 2009 by Armadeus Cornelius, under Plasma TV. No Comments

Now may be a good time to think about replacing your old, bulky picture-tube television with a new, state-of-the-art, flat-panel plasma television. The HD revolution is well underway, and cable/satellite companies are offering subscribers more High-Definition content than ever before.

The first thing you will notice when you see a flat-screen plasma TV for the first time is the outstanding resolution and clarity of the picture. Most plasma TVs can display a resolution of at least 720p, better for smaller screens where high-resolution is less noticeable, all the way up to 1080P, the highest resolution available. Some plasma sets are able to receive HD, or High-Definition signals, while some models are considered EDTV, or Enhanced Definition Televisions, which display greater clarity and a higher resolution than standard picture-tube sets, but are not as clear as a true HD compatible plasma TV. If you want to receive HD programming, make sure that the plasma set you purchase is HD compatible.

Flat-screen plasma televisions are also much slimmer and lighter than standard TVs since they lack a traditional picture tube. A 40-inch plasma TV typically weighs less than half of what a similar sized traditional television weighs, and since plasma TVs are only a few inches thick, they can be mounted on a wall, freeing-up valuable floor space.

Plasma televisions can also display up to 16.77 million colors, far more than displayed by traditional sets, and with no blurring, phosphor lag, and a faster screen refresh time, images remain crisp and clear even during fast-moving action or sports scenes. This is a problem for LCD technology, which was developed for reading text on a computer screen. Plasma screens also have a higher contrast ratio, allowing for deeper, darker blacks rather than the varying shades of grey of LCD screens.

The price of both LCD and plasma TVs are dropping fast, but a plasma television is typically less expensive than a comparable-sized LCD set, especially when shopping for larger screen sizes.

Plasma television manufacturers also offer larger screen sizes than LCD sets, Typically ranging from 37-65 inches compared to the LCDs 17-56 inches, and with a wider 160-180 degree viewing angle, there is less color and image degradation when viewing from an angle. This makes flat-panel plasma TVs better than LCD TVs when there are multiple viewers. If you are wishing to re-create the movie theater experience in your own home, plasma is the way to go.

Some newer plasma television models are even internet ready, meaning that you can connect them to your home computer and use that huge, high-resolution screen as a computer monitor. With internet connectivity, you can do computer work, surf the net or play games from the comfort of your living-room sofa.

Cable and satellite companies are beginning to offer more high-definition programming to their subscribers every month, making the purchase of a flat-screen plasma television more attractive than ever. With their incredible picture clarity, millions of colors, deep blacks and falling prices, a plasma television is a great addition to an home theater system.

HDTV Guide: Simple Buying Tips

July 12th, 2009 by Crystal Jennings, under Plasma TV. No Comments

Buying HDTV has been more and more popular, particularly in the United States. Compared to the traditional or standard television systems, the resolution offered in these digital broadcasting systems are higher. Since the introduction of the use of digital televisions, digital video compression led the way for lesser bandwidth.

One of the primary HDTV simple buying tips is to avoid spending your hard-earned money on any high-definition television without prior checking. Simply said, do not jump into paying at the cashier impulsively. Surely, you do not want to end up frustrated having wasted your investment on a television that gives you nothing to see but a lousy resolution.

Even gadget addicts may also find the challenge to get an appropriate HDTV as confusing. These confusions are answered by the several HDTV simple buying tips available anywhere. These HDTV simple buying tips will help you make a more well-founded choice.

Before you go into the more detailed HDTV simple buying tips, you have to be conscious first that there are three available alternatives for the HDTV. These options are the LCD, Plasma and DLP. Each of these choices have their own advantages and disadvantages that you need to reckon in making your decision.

DLP is seen as the biggest among the three, with its features of rear projection, great blacks and LED backlit models. The specialty of the DLP is in color accuracy and longer lifetime but its failing is in the viewing angle, which makes watching TV from the family room not a good idea. In cheaper counterparts of the DLP, the commonly known rainbow effect, or the wavering of the colors on the screen, can also be seen.

Compared to the other choices, the Plasma is definitely superior when it comes to blacks, contrast and blur-free motion. However, the Plasma is also the least environmental-friendly, with a power consumption of twice as that of LCD. Their brightness also is lower than that of LCD and is accompanied with a higher monetary value than the LCD in its equivalent size.

The LCD offers much better blacks and contrast, aside from being thinner and lighter. They are also less expensive and less power consuming than the Plasma. The LCD is also the brightest set.

How to choose a Plasma or LCD TV

How to choose a Plasma or LCD Television

Plasma vs LCD TV – certainly a much-debated issue and frequently a dilemma faced by many when purchasing a flat panel TV. In this comparative guide, we debate the pros and cons of both Plasma TVs and LCD HDTVs. This should help you better identify where either of these flat panel display technologies fit best.

Are you arranging a flat panel Television purchase? Certainly , there’s a lot in favor of flat panel TVs. Flat panel Television display technology represents one of the most important TV technological feats ever since the discovery of color TV in the 1950’s. If it is a plasma TV or an LCD Television , a flat panel TV is slim – sometimes less than four inches deep – and represents an interesting addition to any room. What’s more, you can literally hang a plasma or LCD HDTV on the wall, on the ceiling, or in that case, any place else you are feeling like observing your new TV. The problem many face when it comes to choosing a flat panel display is whether to select a plasma TV or an LCD Television .

To complicate this plasma vs LCD TV selection process further, price and size – 2 major issues – are becoming less of a problem.

LCD TVs are now coming out bigger and at costs that are beginning to seriously compete with those of similar-size plasma TVs.

Liquid Crystal Displays ( LCD ) panels – work by trapping a liquid crystal solution between 2 sheets of polarized glass. When an electrical current passes through the liquid crystals, the crystals revolve causing a change in the polarization of the light passing thru them in reply to the applied voltage. This causes kind of light passing thru the polarized glass to get to the face of the display. LCD panels don’t generate light – rather they filter or take away light produced by a back light source to make the image on the panel surface. More on this in our guide How-it-Works : Liquid Crystal Displays. At the same time, one can’t but bear in mind that these same differences give each display technology its strengths and weaknesses, and thus render another acceptable than the other under a different environment.

Television Resolution

XGA Plasma Televisions like the Samsung TV, with a resolution of 1,024 x 768, are the commonest and inexpensive plasma Television resolution format. Plenty of the new Plasma Televisions come out in XGA. Top-end Plasma Televisions like the 58 Panasonic Plasma TV have a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080, and are noticeably more dear. Resolution is actually what defines a HD Prepared ( 768 horizontal lines ) and Full HD Television ( 1080 horizontal lines – and whether it supports an interlaced ( i ) only or a full progressive ( p ) picture. Also always ask about upscaling and downscaling as pretty much all HD Prepared and Full HD Television’s support this technology.

Picture standard

When it comes to picture standard and viewing angles, the general public still favour plasma screens over LCD displays. Plasmas have better contrast proportions and richer color saturations. You may view them from any angle and still get phenomenal image resolution, unlike your average HD LCD screen.

Longevity

Both LCDs and plasmas last a particularly long time, there’s no big difference in screen lifespans as many folks will have you suspect ; an enormous consideration to make though is whether to spend that additional money on an FULL HD or simply a HD prepared flat screen Television . HD technology is unquestionably the way forward for Television , but South Africans may only harvest major HD benefits in some years.

Typically a HD prepared Television will be more than acceptable for the following five years as the broadcasters will only push out a 720 ( i ) HD signal due to bandwidth limits. At Nashua Electronics we may counsel you mostly to purchase the item that best meets your wants, we are going to ask the relevant questions to figure out what you are expecting from your Television , whether or not you are somebody always at the leading edge of technology or somebody looking to make a long term investment in what’s now available. We also attempt to help get the best price for your financial position.
